All the bloom is gone from my carnations, should I dead head them so they will bloom again through the summer?

Pinks (Dianthus) do best in cool climates. You can remove spent flowers to encourage reblooming. If you have long-stemmed varieties, you can cut them back if they get dry and scraggly. Clump-forming carnations will need to be divided every few years to keep them looking their best.
