The rust-colored powder on your turf is pretty easy to diagnose--it's a fungal lawn disease called rust. It thrives in moist conditions, and tends to attack turf that is already stressed and vulnerable. To treat it, fertilize your lawn with a high-nitrogen fertilizer. Mow frequently and bag the clippings to remove rust spores from your lawn. Don't worry about treating with a fungicide unless the problem is severe and these other methods fail to make a difference.
