New Sod Care
I live in Colorado Springs, CO. We laid two small bluegrass sod areas right at the end of May. We have very sandy soil but we topped it with three inches of good topsoil from a local nursery. We have been watering deeply each evening to give the sod time to root. I am just not sure when to stop watering on a daily basis, and whether to start this year with adding fertilizer, herbicides or insecticides to keep the lawn in the best shape. When do we need to start these amendments?
Water daily to a depth of four inches for two or three weeks to give the sod time to root. Your bluegrass is a cool-season grass, so feed it in fall when it is growing the fastest.
