Mini maple leaves in lawn

Our backyard lawn is covered in these mini-maple leaves that are growing right out if the ground. Our neighbour said they are from the maple 'helicopters' that fell and seeding into our lawn. The look like maple tree leaves in colour and almost every inch of our lawn is covered.

Some types of maple trees, including silver maple, germinate immediately from the seeds that they drop. The "helicopters" are the seeds of maples. If they fall into the lawn, mowing should take care of them. In planting beds, you may have to pull or hoe them out.
