Help! Winter sand and salt is destroying my lawn.

Every winter the town plows the "excess" snow onto my front lawn. In the spring I have a large pile of sand & salt that I have to remove. My lawn is now looking more like a desert than a lawn. Is there anything, short of standing in front of the plow, that I can do to fix my lawn?

Short of erecting a barrier of some sort to prevent the snow, sand, and salt from getting to the lawn, there's not much that you can do to prevent the deposition of these things on the lawn. In the spring you can rake off the sand and leach the area (flush it with lots of water) to wash the salt away.
