Height Settings for Lawn Mowers

What is the best height my lawn mower should be set at if I am using it as a mulcher?

Mower height settings depend on the type of turfgrass and season. Use the higher range of mowing heights during the heat of summer. You can go with a lower setting in spring or fall.

Bluegrass, fine fescue and perennial ryegrass - 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches

Tall fescue - 2 1/2 to 3 inches

Bermudagrass - 1/2 to 2 inches

Buffalograss - 2 to 3 inches (or unmowed)

Bahiagrass, St. Augustinegrass - 2 to 4 inches

Zoysiagrass - 3/4 to 2 inches.
