Fire my Lawn Service

We want to fire my Lawn Service and treat my own lawn. When and what do we need to apply to our yard on a regular basis? We live in the South,TN.

If you have a bluegrass/fescue lawn, mow high and often. Fertilize only in the fall. If it's zoysia, fertilize only in the spring. For specific treatments for weeds, crabgrass, etc., consult your local extension agent. If you have a thick healthy sod, you will have very few weed/disease problems. People have more problems when they have automatic sprinkling systems because often the lawn is watered during dark hours , which encourages fungal diseases.
