Dogs running on lawns

We have 3 dogs who run along our fence constantly. There is no grass left where they run. Is there a tough grass I can use or other ideas to plant along the fence to prevent this damage?

I'm sorry, but there isn't a plant out there that will tolerate constant foot traffic. Well, a weed called plantain, maybe, but no turf grasses or ground covers. One thing you can try is installing those high-traffic turf grids used in some botanic gardens and golf courses. You could build the dogs a boardwalk or pave their path, too, but it's possible they'd avoid the path for the more comfortable feel of the earth under their feet.
