Dogs destroyed by backyard lawn.

How do I get rid of the weeds and stalky plants that have overgrown in the backyard without using harsh chemicals that could endanger my dogs?

Without knowing the situation, I can only give you some general answers. Is this a lawn? Flower beds? Are they annual weeds? Brushy/woody plants?

In flowerbeds, clean them out as best as you can by hand, then lay down weed fabric, and cover with mulch. That's a good long term solution.

In lawns, use a weed preventer to control annual weeds like crabgrass and foxtail (corn gluten is a "natural" alternative product you can use). Perennial weeds, such as dandelion, in lawns generally have to be pulled by hand.

Brushy, woody plants in small areas such as backyards are easy to dig up by hand. Without chemicals, you'll need to just keep pulling them as they grow.
