Dark green one foot wide streaks in my lawn

MY lawn free of weeds, thick but shallow roots. I reside in windsor ontario, across from Detroit. This streak of dark green grass will eventually die..I water grass and seems to save it...But dont know why these streaks show up. I would appreciate any thoughts on what is the cause. Did not re seed my lawn

The dark streaks that you describe could be from a fungus called fairy ring. This soil-borne fungus causes the grass to grow rapidly (with a dark green color) near the edge of its advance in the soil. Sections of the turf then die back, but eventually recover. Unfortunately, there's no good chemical control for the fairy ring fungus. You can sometimes mask its effect by fertilizing and watering the lawn well.
