SLOPE ON BOTH SIDES OF HOUSE

My home was built into a hill with slopes on both sides of the house. The slopes eventually lead into a flat area in the back of the house. My basement occasionally leaks so I am looking for something I can plant on both sides of the house that will not have a negative effect with drainage. Occasionally I have a small amount of water that seeps into one side of my basement after a big rain and I don't want to make it worse. I prefer perennials and shrubs. Any suggestions?

Virtually any plants that you would plant near the house should soak up some the of excess moisture that you occasionally get. As long as you stick with shrubs and perennials, you shouldn't have difficulty with aggressive roots, such as those from maples or willows, that could cause damage to the foundation.
