Planting bulbs

I'm replanting around my deck,I want to plant grape hyacinth bulbs in front of dwarf shrubs, but I don't want them to look like I planted them in a straight line,is there a pattern to plant, so they look nice ?

Hi,

Thanks for writing. There's no established pattern to use. Some gardeners toss a handful of bulbs onto the ground and plant them where they land; this creates a natural look. If you don't want a straight line, you can create a flowing, river-like effect by planting them in curves. To do this, take a string or your water hose and make a flowing shape in front of your shrubs, then plant them according to the shape you've mapped out.
