Overgrown Pompas Grass
Thanks for writing. Your best bet may be to treat them with an herbicide such as Roundup. The herbicide will be absorbed by the leaves and carried into the root system to kill the plant.
I'd spray them when they're green and growing, then wait for the foliage to die back. Once it does, cut it to the ground and watch to see if there's any regrowth. (There may be; pampas grass is tough!) If there is new growth, spray it again as soon as you see it --- repeat if necessary and that should take care of the problem.
Thanks for writing. I hope this helps!
