Landscaping under Jack/White Pine

My backyard (one acre) is full of large Jack and White Pine trees. In one breath I love it because it reminds me of camping and being out in the woods. But on the other hand there are a lot of dead branches and every time we have a storm dead branches fall along with pine cones and lots of pine needles. What plants will grow under pines trees? How do I manage the falling branches, pine cones and needles?

Well sadly, nothing will grow under those pines. Pines and spruces are very dense and between their root systems and the falling needles, nothing can really grow beneath them. If it were me, I'd leave the needles in place as a mulch and just take out the dead branches as they fall. With trees like this, you'll need to  adjust to a more natural looking landscape.
