Landscaping for New Construction Areas

I've reviewed lots of landscape software and have yet to be impressed by any of them. If a small ornamental tree looks best in spring flower and a shrub is best in its red fall color, those are the ways the programs portray them in the landscape. Yet in reality, the landscape will never look that way. The programs also don't account for different growth rates, so even the programs that can age the landscape don't show a real picture of what the landscape will look like. Hiring a landscape designer or landscape architect for $100 to $300 will give you an attractive, workable landscape plant that you can install yourselves over a period of years and probably save you money in mistakes. Click on 'Detailed Search' and you can search for trees, shrubs, perennials, ground covers and vines based on criteria including your hardiness zone, size, color, bloom season, etc. There is information and a photo of each plant.
