How to plan an evergreen-only border?

I'd like to plant evergreen-only plants along the length of my yard behind my pool area (the fewer leaves the better- we already border a hickory/oak/poplar forest) but I'm kind of at a loss as to choosing varieties for interest and color. It's already book-ended with some young leland cypress. I like your other garden plans... do you have a plan just for evergreens (in my case an evergreen border)? If not how about making one?!?!?
