Drought

with this drought in tennessee my lawn and flowers are suffering i water daily around 9pm help ant suggestions

Hi,

 

Thanks for writing. There's not a whole lot you can do if your area is affected by drought. Do you spread mulch on your garden? That can help a lot --- a 2-inch-deep layer of mulch helps the ground hold moisture better instead of losing it to evaporation.

 

Applying water directly to the ground with a soaker hose will also help, especially if you currently water with a sprinkler as you lose some moisture to evaporation before it ever hits the ground. A soaker hose under mulch delivers water directly to the ground.

 

It's typically all right to let your lawn go dormant and stop watering it; when moisture returns, your lawn should green up again.
