Bamboo location

Is it o.k. to plant bamboo over a drain field? what are the best varieties of bamboo for zone 5? space is not a problem. thanks

I wouldn't plant any bamboos over a drainage field. There are a number of bamboos that are hardy to Zone 5. Unfortunately most of them are running bamboos--and they will run! Clump bamboos do not need to be contained. I would only plant running bamboos in containers or in an area where they are well contained by sidewalks, buildings, etc.
