Backyard privacy solution

Hello, what is the best way to get privacy around the backyard? We used to have trees around our backyard walls that gave us privacy (~30 ft tall), but we cut them with an advise from a tree pruning person. But, now we are regretting big time because we no longer have any privacy and have NO clue how and what kind of trees to replant. Can you give us some advsie how we can approach our problem? We live in So. California in city of Arcadia. Thank you.

Hi,

Thanks for writing. If the large trees were too big, you could select small trees that stay 30 feet or less, including

  • Acacia
  • Orchid tree (Bauhinia)
  • Bottlebrush (Callistemon)
  • Persimmon (Diospyros)
  • Crape myrtle (Lagerstroemia)
  • Chaste tree (Vitex)

Or for more  ideas on making your yard more private, check out our slideshow:
