Backyard plants

Our house is on the slope and our backyard has a slope, too. Whenever it rains, the water from the upper house comes in our house and it makes a small stream. Can I plant some plants/trees near the fence dividing our house and neighbors to stop it? What kind of trees/plants?

First, you must stop the flooding. A landscaping expert is your best bet to help you draw up a plan to contour your slope so that this condition doesn't recur. Only after you have the situation under control should you spend the money for plants. Some low-growing junipers are good for soil erosion control, as are natural grasses adapted to your climate, and sedums as groundcover.
