Above Ground Pool -- deck or plants?

We live in Southeast Michigan and have an above ground pool (oval) across the back of our yard. What do I put around it besides rocks? How far out should the rocks go? About a third of the pool is behind our garage - approx. 5' between. That is also where the pump, filter, heater and electrical connection are. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Unless you want to hide the filter and such you only don't really need to put any rocks around your pool if you want to just have lawn grow up to it. If you want rocks, I would just put a ring about 12 to 18 inches around the base of the pool as a "splash zone" to prevent muddying the area.
