Spiders Spinning on my Porch

Every spring lots of spiders spin their webs on the ceiling and walls of our porch which is open on two sides. They make a BIG mess that looks awful. Is there something I can use that is nontoxic to humans but that would make the spiders want to spin elsewhere? I would appreciate any suggestions!

There are no effective spider repellents. Since it is outdoors you could use insecticides. However, if you prefer a non-toxic solution, regularly knocking down the webs with a broom is  the simplest solution.
