Slugs on my mum plant

I live here in the Boston area which has had a full month of rain and I saw slugs on a new little mum plant I just planted. It does not look like it will survive. Is there other plants they will attack as my zinnias (just coming up) or my tomatoes? I did see that it is due to lots of moisture but here we can't do anything about that.

There are a number of slug baits -- both traditional and organic -- on the market that do a good job of controlling slugs. I'd look for one of these from your local garden center, nursery, or online retailer (such as www.gardensalive.com).

Slugs will eat virtually any plant as their populations grow --- I've not found anything that's truly been slug resistant, I'm afraid.
