Scale on citrus trees

I have 3 potted citrus plants that are on my patio. One has died; another is heavily infested with scale and ants. How can I get rid of both?

Spray your citrus plants with either the botanical insecticide neem or horticultural oil labeled for summer or all-season use. The ants are a secondary pest; they're only after the sweet honeydew excreted by the scale. If you kill the scale with neem and/or oil, the ants will leave.
