Rid ants in sandbox

How can I rid our sand box of ants without using chemicals as children will be playing in it?

Hi, Well in a sand box, you could simply dig out the nest or replace the sand with fresh sand. However, you can also discourage them by pouring boiling water on the nest and/or offering them a sugar/borax mix. Put about 10% borax with 90% sugar to start. The ants will take the sugar and borax along with it. As time goes by, increase the borax in the mix to about 40%. Eventually the borax will kill the ants in the nest. But, in a sandbox, I would just dump it out and destroy any nests .
