How do I keep the ladybugs from eating away at the basil in my garden this spring/summer?

Ladybugs are the good guys- they eat aphids and other small insects in your garden. If you're seeing red ladybugs on the basil, they are having lunch. They will stay around as long as there are tender insects on the menu. When the live food gets scarce, they will move on to another location. If you want them to leave sooner, spray them off the plant with your hose. This will dislodge the ladybugs and their prey.
