Why are my house plants leaves turning brown on the tips.

I have house plants, what makes the leaves turn brown at the tips and what can I do to stop this.

Hi, When houseplants get brown tips on their leaves it's generally an indication of poor watering habits. The best way to water a houseplant is to thoroughly flush it until water runs freely out the drainage holes. Shallow watering an cause brown tips on the leaves. But, brown tips are also an indication of lack of humidity. Many of our houseplants are native to jungle conditions so if your home is very dry, you'll need to mist your plants and give them a shower every few days. Brown leaf tips can also indicate a build up of salts from too much fertilizer or from softened water. Don't overfertilize your houseplants and if you use softened water, buy distilled water to keep your plants happy.

One thing many people do not consider is the condition of the water... things like fluoride/chlorine in your water can cause brown tips on indoor plants. One solution is to let the water sit for 24 hours prior to using or using distilled water... which means you need to watch the nutrients more closely

Brown leaves are fairly common on many house plants. Keep in mind that it might be perfectly natural for lower leaves on your plant to first turn pale yellow, then brown and then drop off. This happens on many kinds of tropical plants as they grow. Over time, the plant will form a bare stem. It might be due to Not enough light, Too much heat, Too little water, Too little humidity

Hi there, some plants tips naturally turn brown as the plant ages and grows. One of the best methods to determine how your plant is doing is to purchase a low cost pH meter. This meter will tell the ph (too acid or too alkaline) of the soil. All you do is stick it in your plants soil and presto ! you get a reading in which you can compare to a chart.
