Spider plant has raised brown dot spots
I have a spider plant that has very small (pinpoint size) raised brown spots on it. They can be removed easily. I've washed them off a couple of times but they keep returning. What are they and are they harmful to the plant? Will they spread to my other plants?
I would guess that you've got scales. Yes, they're harmful to the plant, and they might or might not spread, depending the kind of plants you have. Scrape off by hand, as you've been doing, and then spray with a horticultural oil. repeat treatments will probably be needed to fully control the pests.
