How should I care for an Aglaonema?

Someone gave me a very attractive houseplant called Aglaonema. How should I care for it?

Aglaonema is sometimes called Chinese evergreen. It is a common gift plant and-guess what?-it's easy to grow. Chinese evergreen dislikes direct sun or excess water. Your plant will do fine sitting across the room from a window in a corner or on an end table, and you can err on the side of caution with watering. Water it only when the soil feels dry to the touch, and use a liquid houseplant fertilizer no more frequently than monthly. Remove any lower leaves that turn yellow. If many of the lower leaves begin to turn yellow, it's likely that you're overwatering.
