How do I start another plant from my corn plant?

I have a corn plant. It is a 4ft stalk with 2 heads which are really tall. Do you cut the stalk part or the heads. This plant is from my son's funeral and I don't want to loose. How do I start another stalk from this one?

Air layering is the surest way to propagate a plant with woody stems such as the corn plant (Dracaena fragrans massangeana). Here is a story how to air layer houseplants.
