What kinds of plants can I plant in my open air atrium?

I have an open air atrium, 5'x2', with one side being a window that looks over the bathtub in the bathroom. The other side is a small concrete wall with slats that allows a little sunlight and the bottom is tile with a a drain. What kinds of potted plants and/or flowers would survive best in this space? I live in the subtropics with winter being around 60 degrees F and summer is hot and humid, 80's-90's.

Most any of the plants in the Houseplants section of our plant encyclopedia (except those that specifically mention preference for cooler temperatures) would be possibilities to consider.
