Killing Rose of Sharon seedlings?

Help! We live in the Chicago suburbs and this spring pulled out a beautiful Rose of Sharon that had been growing against our house for about 7 years. We just couldn't stand the seedlings any longer! BUT THEY ARE STILL COMING UP EVERYWHERE! How in the world do I get rid of them? I spent hours on hands and knees last weekend pulling the little suckers up out of the ground. And today about 3x as many more are there again. Thank you

Thanks for writing. I'm sorry, but there's really not much you can do about the seedlings short of using a pre-emergence herbicide in your garden. The herbicide will stop many, but not all, from sprouting if you use it correctly.

Spreading a layer of mulch over your garden will also help suppress some of the seedlings from growing.

Look for a variety of these products at your local garden center.
