How to split a Yucca Plant properly

Dear Better Homes and Gardens Our Question pertains to Yucca outdoor plants. has Spiky Dark Green Spike shaped leaves. How to do you separate the new pups properly? So that we can have more than one plant and what time of year is best to do this in? Is Summer to Hot or too much of a shock to the plant ? Thank you, Sharon Torrington, CT

Hi Sharon,

Thanks for taking the time to write. The best time to divide yucca is in spring. You should be able to carefully dig sideshoots away from the main plant without having to dig up the entire plant.
