Flowers grown in clay/soil mixed area.
Many plants adapt well to clay soils, although most will grow better if the soil is amended with compost to loosen it up and provide better drainage. Consider growing your roses in raised beds with amended soil to improve their performance. Other flowers that will grow in clay: yarrow, aster, threadleaf coreopsis, Shasta daisy, heliopsis, hellebore, heuchera, bearded iris, beebalm, and goldenrod are a few to try.
