Usually the most serious pest of cucumbers are cucumber beetles rather than grubs or worms. Have you had problems with worms in the past? The cucumber beetles are serious pests because they carry bacterial wilt, which can cause sudden collapse of the vines. You may be able to protect the cucumbers from the beetles by growing the vines under floating row covers or by using reflective aluminum mulch around the plants to disorient the beetles. Neem mixed with karanja oil can be an effective organic insecticide.
