Can a quaint, serene garden take place next to a major highway? I have a front yard that gets full sun, morning, afternoon, & evening, and it's in Zone 9 for Central Georgia. The yard also slopes down towards the ditch which is next to the roadway. How can I create a lush, vibrant landscape that has pops of color, can stand against droughts, and very hot Georgia summers?
What you're asking for sounds like a thorough landscape site analysis, which is beyond the scope of what we can do remotely and in the limitations of the response box to questions asked. I'd suggest you consult with a local landscape architect or designer for a full plan. However, you can get many ideas to discuss with the professional by first viewing front yard landscaping ideas on our website. For plant selection, you can use the advanced search option of the plant encyclopedia to find plants hardy in your Zone.
