What do I need to do to transplant a potted grapevine?
Any quality potting soil will do-grapes grow well in most soils. If you use a potting mix that contains a slow-release fertilizer-or you add some yourself-no additional feeding will be needed. Place the plant where you can train the vine to a sturdy post or other support. Be sure to select a container that has a drainage hole at the bottom and plenty of room for the roots. A grapevine can grow 5 feet or more a year, so it makes a good shade-providing plant for a sunny patio.
