Ripe melon?

My honey dew melons are nice average size and turning white . How do i know if they are ripe enough to pick?

There are several indicators. The ground spot (where the melon rests on the ground) will turn from white to creamy yellow. The stem end where the fruit attaches to the vine begins to dry up. The background color on the melon also gets lighter. And if all else fails, you can cut a plug from the melon to make certain that the flesh is ripe.
