how do i plant a pineapple top

Submitted by coupdafnee

Cut the top off (make sure it's a healthy looking, green, leafy top), and scrap off any yellow flesh from the fruit that  might be present on the cut surface. Then let the top dry for  a week in open air. then you can put it in a pan or bowl of water so that the bottom is submerged just a  little. It should root within a few weeks. ONce well rooted, you can plant it in ordinary potting soil and grow it on. Remember that pineapple does not like cool temps, so grow in a warm sunny spot if possible.
