why does my salvia maestro have holes in the leaves

i have a salvia maestro in a pot on my patio but it has holes in most of the leaves why?

There are many types of chewing insects or slugs/snails that could be chewing holes in the leaves of your salvia. Have you seen any insects on the plant? Without seeing the pattern of the holes, it's difficult to determine which insect might be causing the damage. Also, unless you're seeing additional damage, the insect may have come and gone already.

Try to find the source of the damage and use an appropriate control measure--either an insecticide or slug bait.
