when to plant pansies?

When can I plant pansies in N.E. Pa--(Allentown)?
Submitted by cathyo10

Pansies will usually overwinter in northeast Pennsylvania, so they can be planted in the fall. In spring, they can usually be planted as soon as the ground is workable. If they have been in a greenhouse, harden them off first for a couple of weeks by placing them outdoors during the day in a protected spot. Cover them when extreme cold or wind hits, until they have adapted to the harsher outdoor conditions.
