Orchids

Will the orchids that are so popular go another stem to have blooms on it again? I have one that I have been nurturing for a year. No stem or blooms.

Hi,

Thanks for writing. If your orchid gets enough light and cool winter conditions, it should bloom. Mine start to create flower buds every year in February or so. But do make sure that your plant gets enough light, as that's the most common reason for the plant not to produce flowers. Fertilizing with an orchid fertilizer in spring and summer can also be helpful as does giving it cool nighttime temperatures (letting it get into the 50s at night).
