Lilac Bushes

Planted 2 lilac bushes next to each other 7 yrs. ago. The white blossoms every year but not the purple. Both bushes are green and healthy looking. How can I get the purple one to blossom?

It may just be a matter of patience. Lilacs can take 7 to 10 years to reach blooming size, and there often are differences in varieties as to how long it takes. Evidently the plants are getting the right environmental conditions and treatment because the white one is blooming.
