holes and browning on magnolia
A pest called the sassafras weevil (a.k.a. magnolia leaf miner) may be the culprit behind the holes in your Magnolia leaves. You can spray your tree with insecticidal soap, soaking the tops and bottoms of the leaves and all branch and trunk surfaces. The weevils spend winter in the leaf litter and mulch under the tree, so raking the area clear in the fall will reduce their numbers in the following year.
