Tulips in warm regions
The information you received was not entirely correct. In your area you need to order bulbs that are already chilled. Many bulb companies sell prechilled bulbs for gardeners who live in climates such as yours. You can plant those bulbs directly into your garden for springtime blooms. Some gardeners try to chill their own bulbs by storing them in the refrigerator, but this rarely works. Temperatures just above freezing are ideal for providing the necessary chilling. But because chilling the bulbs takes 12 weeks or more, most gardeners find it too much bother to take up valuable refrigerator space. Putting bulbs in the freezer will kill them, turning them to mush.
