Transplanting spider lilies in Montgomery alabama

I want to transplant some spider lilies from my Mom's yard to my own. Please tell me when the best month to do this and how deep the bulbs should be planted. They are not blooming very well now and my Mom thinks it is because they are now in too much shade or that over the years the bulbs have become too thick and too deep. Thanks

Thanks for writing. You can transplant the spider lilies essentially any time from spring to fall. Plant the bulbs about 5-6 inches deep.

Your bulbs will bloom best in a spot with full sun, soil that's rich in organic matter, and if the bulbs are spaced at least 8-10 inches apart.

Good luck!
