Transplant amaryllis bulbs?

Hello, I live in Tampa, FL and have white amaryllis bulbs I planted from seed 14 years ago. They grew well and bloomed for several years but now they look crowded and stopped blooming a few years ago. I only had one flower this year. Should I break them up? If so, when? I have been fertilizing them with bone meal fairly regularly. Thanks, Julie Watson

Over time, amaryllis bulbs can become overcrowded and would benefit from division and transplanting. It's best to do this when they are in a resting stage or period with no active growth.
