Ground Freeze

Hi, I live in Milwaukee, WI and am wondering what exactly it means when it says to plant bulbs before the ground freezes...what temperature does it have to get to in order for the gound to freeze here? And does that mean over night temperature? Thanks!

Thanks for writing. When you hear ""before the ground freezes"" it means when the ground becomes frozen solid and you can't really dig in it any more. This usually starts happening after your daytime temperatures no longer rise above freezing (32F) so the ground doesn't thaw during the day.
