shade plants that thrive from pine needles

I have 100 year old large pine tree in my yard. It is near the entrance of my driveway. I have built a planter around it and would like to plant flowers in it. What plants would thrive under the tree. Many pine needles gather there.... It would be mostly shaded with some indirect sunlight daily.

Hi,

Thanks for writing. Some good annuals for shade include impatiens, begonia, torenia, browallia, coleus, and sweet potato vine.
