Is planting evergreens in my landscape a good idea?

I'd like to plant some evergreen trees in my landscape. What would you suggest?

Evergreens are a great way to add color to the winter landscape. Keep in mind that numerous trees other than needled evergreens retain their foliage through winter. Grow an assortment of needled and broadleaf evergreens for variety, texture, and color in your yard all year long.
